How can we save electricity?
Considering the energy crisis in Europe and Sweden right now, we have collected tips on what you can do to reduce your energy consumption and help flatten the curve. In the current state, there is a risk that manual disconnections can take place (perceived as a power cut) to ensure that important community functions such as nursing homes, hospitals and emergency services have enough electricity. Below we have gathered tips on what you can do:
- Use electricity at the right times. This is generally when public organisations (e.g. hospitals), industry and households are inactive, i.e. in the middle of the day, late at night and on weekends.
- Turn off the lights when you leave the room. Use LED lamps, they consume 4 to 5 times less electricity than halogen lamps
- Turn off appliances & unplug chargers when not in use. Some devices consume power even when they are in sleep mode, so it is better to turn them off completely if you are not going to use them anymore.
- Think about your water use. Take shorter showers and make sure to fill the washing machine and dishwasher before starting them.
