temperature in the apartments

In Sweden, the weather and temperature can be very fluctuating and it can go from very hot to very cold. Below we have gathered information about how this can affect your temperature in the apartments and what you can expect, and when it is time to make an error report

If the temperature during the summer is normal, the advice from the Public Health Authority is that the temperature in the apartment should not go over 26 degrees for a few days in a row, with exception of temporary heat periods of 28 degrees.

If there is an extremely hot summer, it is inevitable that the temperature rises in the apartment and in this scenario we must all cooperate to keep the temperature down.

Here are some tips to help keep the temperature down in the apartments

  • If possible, cover the windows with curtains during the time the sun is shining on them.
  • Air the apartment during the evening/night when the outside temperature is lower than the inside temperature.
  • Create a cross-breeze through the apartment by opening one window at each side of the building.
  • Close down heat sources like computers or other electronic devices that radiate heat.
  • Use a fan to help circulate the air.
  • Drink a lot of water and take cold showers.

During the autumn, it is easy to feel that it is cold in the apartment. The heating system is automatic and starts when it is below 15 degrees outside and is adjusted towards the temperature inside.

In autumn, the weather often goes above 15 degrees during the day and below 15 degrees in the night. This means that the system will turn on and off during the day, which can be experienced as a shifting temperature inside of the apartments. When the heating system turns on, it can take a few days until it is fully activated and you start feeling the difference.

When the outside temperature is stable below 15 degrees, the heating system will stabalize and thus the temperature inside will stabalize as well. The colder it is outside, the more heat will be generated up to 21 degrees inside. Then the system stops being active because the apartments have reached the set value.

Here are some tips if you experience cold in your apartment.

  • Turn the thermostat to max.
  • Don’t put furniture in front of the radiators that can block the heat from spreading in the room.
  • Don’t put heavy curtains over the thermostat, this can block it’s ability to receive the temperature in the room and stop the radiator from generating more heat.
  • Appliances such as TVs and computers are sources of heat and should not be too close to the thermostat, this can affect its ability to receive the temperature in the room.
  • If you need to air the apartment, do it in short intervalls, the furnitures will become cold and make the apartment feel cold as well.

If the temperature in your apartment is below 20 degrees for several days, it can be time to make an error report. When measuring temperature in the apartment, the thermometer should be placed in the middle of the room and one meter from the floor.
